Like a lot of people my interest in photography started
at an early age. I was about nine when I learned how to
take snapshots with a Yashica Mat-D, from there I went to
a Nikon Nikkormat. After playing musical majors in college
I finally realized that I wanted to be a photo major and
enrolled in art school. I spent a lot of time at the
Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester NY, SUNY Brockport
and RIT. After graduation I worked for a Glamour portrait
company for about a year which was fun but being on the
road was tough. So I started my own portrait business based
in Western New York and did well. However in 1996 the
Glamour boom busted. Since then I have worked on my own art
projects. However in 2002 got back into the photography
mainstream when I purchased a Canon D60. Digital was amazing
and with the D60 there was finally a Digital SLR that could
meet my standards of image quality. Since then I have been
shooting constantly and attending workshops. I have been
lucky enough to learn from Robert Ketchum and Ralph Gibson
during two summer workshops at the
"Center for Photography at Woodstock" this past summer. Now
I spend my time photographing the Catskill Mountains,
Hudson Valley and photographing people. My first love has
always been photographing people. I try to show more than
just a representation of someone. I try to show their joy
and happiness.
